So, I Was Playing with Fire

This isn't the actual piece I started with. It was about half the length, maybe four inches long but it came off of the same pick up truck coil spring.

This is my homemade forge made from fence posts, a tractor disc and a tire rim. The fuel source is regular charcoal and the air supply comes from a $9.00 hair dryer I picked up from Wal-Mart. I can reduce diamonds to ash with this puppy.

This is the "rough" blank I pounded and twisted from the bit of coil spring.

Here's the proof that I made the piece. Yep, that's my scull and crossed bones tattooed hand.

Here's the pretty knife all nice and finished after one quenching (to harden the steel back up), three temperings (too toughen it so it's no longer brittle) and a polishing on the blade portion only because I'm artsy like that. Let's not forget the sharpening. I can shave with this little beasty.

The "Dragon Tail" (that's what I'm calling it) is about 8 1/2 to 9 inches in over all length with a 4 inch or so razor sharp edge.

Project 100: Time To Kick It Up

I personally notice a difference from the first Project 100 pic. It may just be me. Well I have noticed a difference in energy. I have a little more pep in my step.
Well... That could be the wonderful woman in my life. You know, the one I still refuse to share any information about.
This week I am going to focus on upper body workouts primarily as that is my weakness right now (at least in my opinion).
So, it's going to be straight up push-ups. I'll throw in the leaners too but the primary focus will be full on real push-ups in the whole variety I know: regulars, wide arm and close grip. There will be at least 100 on the ground push ups on top of the leaners I do at work. I'm also going to hit the weights in the evenings after work and every other day throw in some squats and calf raises just to keep my legs active until the lower body work out next week.
Also, next week I am going to add a polling thingy at the side of my blog so you, my viewers get to pick the Torture of the Week.
I forgot how addictive working out is.

For those of you who read my blog but can't comment you can email me at themissourisavage@yahoo.com and tell how great I am or how much I suck or you can ask for strength-building work-out tips. I know quite a few....

Butterpants

Okay, so I've only been doing project 100 for just over a week now and thought you/I can't really see the results yet I can feel them.
More energy? Not so much.
It's my jeans. Yep. I have a pair of jeans I bought that were just too small but I have had to, in the recent past, grab a couple sticks of butter to slide them on, simply because everything else was dirty. Now, however, they aren't so tight. I can breath with them on. This has only been one week (plus a day). No aerobic exercise has been included as of yet.
100 of any exercise may see like a lot . It is but the results are there. You don't have to do 100. You can do 20 reps or 10 or whatever. But do them every day and build it up.
Exercise is cumulative.

Project 100 Update (as promised)

For me there really hasn't been any noticeable change but then I don't stare at myself in the mirror.. Okay so I do... I have pretty eyes. Yeah. I just look in my own eyes.

I think I am going to, for the next few weeks at least focus on two primary exercises; squats and push ups since the both hurt so good (I exaggerate) but they provide the quickest results appearance-wise.

I think I'll have some coffee.

Well The Weather Outside Is Frightful.....

I just took this pic a few minutes ago. This is Freakin May 3rd! That's my little Saturn in the foreground covered in snow! I have a date tonight!

Yes, I have a date tonight. Who is she? She's a wonderful woman and that's all I'm going to tell you.

In other news... No. I'm not going to tell you anymore about her. Why? Because. That's why.

Like I was saying, In other news I am starting a new blog. Don't worry, I'm not abandoning this one. This is going to be my regular blog forever and ever and ever or at least until I decide to become an internet recluse.
Oh yeah. My other blog.
I'm calling it Sedalia Eats And Treats. It's a blog dedicated to places to eat things to do in and around Sedalia, Missouri.
I know, I know I've always said there's nothing to do here but I've decided to find things to do, dammit. I am determined to find the fun in this town. I already found a pretty darn nifty coffee shop and an excellent doughnut place. We have a museum of modern art that is surprisingly not bad. Our bar scene isn't the greatest but we do have some spots that aren't particularly craptacular. We have one of the largest State Fairs in these United States. (Maybe it's not the best but there has got to be something about it I'll find interesting. And there is the entirety of Pettis County and everything within 100 or so miles of the center of town. I. Am. Going. To. Find. The. Fun. Here.

My life is getting better in this place so I'm going try to make it even more so.

Stop asking about her. I'm not saying any more.

Oh, The Pain. The Pain of It All...

Sunday, the 28th was push-ups. I did at least 100 (possibly 20 or so more) so when Monday rolled around I thought, "Hey hows about squats?" I woke up yesterday as the cumulative upper and lower body pain hit with the feelings of being extruded through a chain link fence.
Tuesday, yesterday, I thought, "Okay, something easy... Hmmmm.. I know! Calf raises." I did well over one hundred, fifty since they are so "easy".... I don't recall that being an ass workout. My butt is about as sore as getting a penicillin shot in both cheeks.
Todays torture? Crunches
Now, mind you, I haven't been hitting balls to the wall with this stuff. The workouts have been eased up to factor in my lack of physical readiness for the 100 campaign. The push ups were leaning push ups. Not every squat was a full squat.. okay so I went balls to the wall on the calf raises. The crunches will be standing crunches for now. When I let you peeps pick my poison I'll be hitting it like I know what I'm doing.
Fuckleberries and cream. And to think, you will all get to vote on my weekly self abuse in the weeks to come. I'll post a weekly picture of my progress on Saturdays.

I had other news but it slipped my mind as I was editing the above...

Project 100

Over the course of the last two years Yours Savagely, namely me, has been getting a bit plump. I am at about the weight I was when I was working for Cummin's Tools out on the road... In the mid to upper 290s (that's pounds). That's right, I got fat. I was doing so well, then I got a job where physical activity came to a stand-still. So I brainstormed and came up with Project 100 to get my fat ass self into a shape other than round.
A few of you may remember four or five years ago when I did at least 100 push ups a day for an entire month. That shaped up my chesticles quite nicely but of course I stopped after the month was up.

Project 100 is going along those lines but this is for at least a year. I plan to do at least 100 reps (through a course of several sets) of an exercise every day. I might do push ups one day, squats the next, sit ups on Tuesday or dumbbell curls, rows, dead lifts, you name it.

After the initial pain goes away I'll be letting you, my viewers, pick the work-out of the week wherein I will do at least 100 reps (in a series of several sets) of an exercise of your choosing, every day, the whole proceeding week. That being said, aerobic exercises aren't measured in my world by reps or sets so you can fuck a whole lotta that... Give me two or three weeks and you'll get to pick my punishment....

It'll start at too damned early in the morning on the 28th of April

Getting Dirty

While playing with my new garden tiller I somehow managed to extend Garden #3 a bit larger than last year's... Wait. I didn't tell you I have three gardens? That's because I don't. It's more like five and it's going to verge on six next year after I get done with my east field.

I have my raised beds which focus primarily on potatoes, onions, garlic and shallots.. I have a few beds unoccupied in the former primary garden so we'll see what to plant in those spots in the future (most likely hot peppers). Garden #2 where I grew miniature water melons and cantaloupe last year will be where I plant cucumbers and squash this year. Garden #3 is currently a more traditional garden in which I will plant corn and beans, some tomatoes and the hottest peppers I can find. I also have a berry patch up by G1 so I consider them a part of Garden #1.. Semantics... eh
Gardens #4 and #5 are the two tractor tires in which my mother plants her tomatoes and snow peas and whatever she feels like planting down by the house so she doesn't have to schelp out back where I do the major planting....

#6 is going to be the big undertaking it sounds like it's going to be. Hopefully it isn't as rocky as I fear it's going to be. I'll have an acre or so to play with there. Yikes... It's going to involve a bunch of tilling and a bunch of working, with four or five rain barrels to do my watering for me. I go to see if work is willing to part with some empty barrels. There I plan on planting some grapes and some other yummy things, mayhap a small orchard and of course the ever present hot as I can possibly find hot peppers.

So, what do you have planned today?

If You Don't Have Anything Nice to Say...

... You're fired.

No, seriously. I just got an email at work from corporate last night. We now have a "Social Media" policy.
Basically if I say anything that could be considered a front to the honor of the company can be written up and/or terminated. Simpering ass-clowns. It's a good thing I no longer mention the company directly. It's also a good thing I don't have a Facebook page.

In other news. This is my last night. I go to days as of Sunday. I'll be going from a 40 hour work week to a 42 hour week; three 12's and a 6 hour day.
I currently still have no vehicle. I'm going to try and remedy that in the morning after work.

I've been at the job for nigh on a month now. So far it's so much less stressful than the plant. I can't wait for my turn with the schooling. I'm going to try to fast track my certification. The quicker I get it, the faster I get a raise. We top out at around $19 an hour right now. I make a bit less than that but for the area I make pretty decent money.
Speaking of money, I got one of my bills out of the way. My garnishment will be gone very soon too. Woot!

Life Is Perfect, Never Better, Just A Phone Call To Ease Your Mind...

Flashback anyone? No? Read the title again. Yeah. That's right. Back to the 90's.
What? You don't get it? Well, click the link then.

So my car broke down. The engine is kaput. I now own three non-functioning vehicles.... Pretty nifty huh? Gads, I'm getting all red neck. Yep.. they sit in my yard in the country.... Remarkably none are on blocks... yet...........................

I'm missing a few things to get my forge going so until I find or replace them I won't be pounding hot steel to my whim and will....

Work is going pretty well. I have the basics down. I can do all the checks and calibrations required for nights. But the week after next I go to days and thank goodness. The guys at night, with the exception of one who started a couple weeks after me, are a bunch of whiny little bitches full of spite. They're the kinds of people who make Lindsey Lohan seem like a good role model for children on the subject of civility and common courtesy...

I'm going to be playing gardener today. I'm going to get a patch all ready for watermelon and cantaloupe, quite possibly pumpkins and honeydew as well....
I've got three of my gardens ready for the basics, plus there's my mother's tomato garden and her snow/sugar snap pea garden... I don't know if I should attempt flowers again....
Hopefully it won't get all wintery again. If it does I think we should find a nice nursing home for Mother Nature. I think the old biddy is getting senile........

In this Post I Review....

Lowes and Menards of Sedalia, Missouri

(Dum, dum, daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)

Considering I have some money from a loan, I decided that I should make use of the money and considering I have been wanting a garden tiller for a while, I decided I should spend some of that money on one. I went to Lowes first. Why? I'll tell you.

I have spent so much time at Lowes Home Improvement in the past that I know where just about everything is kept. I proceeded to the lawn care equipment aisle, took a quick gander at the tillers they had and then promptly proceeded to the rest room. My bladder informed me that I should go. I always listen to my bladder.
In the restroom I heard a couple employees talking about sleep problems they each have and one of the two guys (it is a men's restroom after all... they would have be very ugly women) had to outbitch the other, of course. I didn't get a, "How can I help you?" nor any other conversation towards a prospective purchase which was nice considering the man rules. I finished, washed my hands and proceeded back to the tillers.
On the way back. I saw a flat bed cart unattended with nothing on it and thought to myself, "Score!" I grabbed the cart. I looked at the four available models of tillers for 15 minutes or so.
One electric
One battery operated
One two-cycle standard gas/fuel mix
One four-cycle regular gas mix
All of them smaller

I managed to talk myself into going over to Menards Home Improvement after those aforementioned 15 minutes. And the differences had begun...

The first thing was a girl at the customer service desk who smiled her entirely beautiful smile and said, "Good Morning". It wasn't a rehearsed smile nor was it a rehearsed "good morning". It was the smile and good morning of a person that genuinely liked where they worked. The next thing was (I know where the lawn equipment is and the lumber and the garden stuff but not much more... okay I know where the plumbing stuff is... I've only been there a handful of times) I made my way to the lawn equipment and got the genuine smiles and genuine good mornings of people who like their jobs of at least two other employees, it was quite possibly three, one of which was a manager/supervisor.
At the place of lawn equipment I was looking at tillers of which they had four and all four were different brands but similar to the ones I saw at Lowes.

One electric (Cheaper than Lowes)
One battery operated (The same prices as Lowes)
One two-cycle standard gas/fuel mix (more expensive than Lowes, though not by much)
One four-cycle regular gas mix (The same prices as Lowes)
Ah, but the majorest difference was the four cycle was a honkin' huge, regular gas 5.5 horsepower 135 cc lawn mower engine sized engine garden tiller that can convert from 13 inches to 22 inches to 24 inches by adjusting and/or removing the blades. Not only that, another girl smiling the genuine smile and good morninging the genuine good morning of the person who not only likes where they work but LOVES the department they are working in helps me out and strikes up conversation concerning her and her husband's own garden and how she would probably purchase the same model I was vaguely drooling over because she wanted a bigger garden. We talked pest control and organic gardening and what we plant and how we did last year due to the drought and other things. Then she found me a cart, helped me lift the tiller I ended up ultimately purchasing, took me over to a desk to get some paperwork done, where two other employees good morninged me and smile the genuine smiles of people who liked where they work at.

So, did you notice anyone say anything to me in the part about Lowes? No? Me either, not a single "Good morning," and certainly not a "Have a nice day." I did notice that Lowes is looking for employees...

What this longer than lost post from Yours Savagely boils down to is I am willing to spend more money (not that I did) at a place where there is genuine customer service than at a place where I know where everything is.

So....

You didn't pray enough for me. I got the loan, well part of it anyway, but when I got to the dealership the beast I had my eyes on had sold. Some devotees you all turned out to be...
I suppose I can forgive you... (sigh)

Funny thing about that loan, though. I had bad credit. (note the word "had") I hoped that I had built it back up to at least average or slightly below that. Nope. Apparently I have no credit. None. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Ne, etc.... Somehow, somewhere and some way my credit up and vanished. It's like I'm 18 again with a new job. But unlike when I was 18 with a new job, this time I have a better and wiser head on my shoulders. I can build my credit like all those older people told me to when I wasn't listening because I was 18 and knew everything. Gladly I forgot most of it 19 years later....
So I got to get a battery for my car in the mean time. Pray for me and this time I mean it....

Blogging In the Name Of....

After two more weeks I go back to days... That's about the time it takes to get used to nights... Que Surprise...
I think I'll play with fire today considering I haven't in a long time. Sure I bar-be-qued last night but that's not pounding hot steel to my whim and will. Fire is nifty...
The temperature threshold of a diamond is about the melting point of copper which is less than the melting point of iron which is less than the melting point of steel. I can melt steel with a small bag of charcoal and a hair dryer. I can set diamonds on fire... Just saying.
I have a piece I started years ago. I cut the shape out of a piece of leaf spring with an arc-welder (more like melted than cut) and I have yet to start shaping it to my whim; a lanchero machete; a big, heavy blade not unlike a machete yet not unlike a shovel. It's a big undertaking but eh.. I got a few days off.
I really should get and post pictures of the process...
My car is caput-ish... So of course it happen after I spent all my tax money... I'm trying for a loan so say a prayer for me that I get it. Papa Savage needs a new set of wheels (well.. used is preferable)

And Incidentally ...

I should be sleeping. You may wonder why I said that. It's because I should be sleeping. It's a little after 1 PM (1300) and I am typing in my blog. Wait...
Why should that matter, you wonder. I start my one week of nights before coming back to days tonight, of course. Well, it's not a true week of work in a matter of days. More so. it's like five 10 hour nights. I'm still getting my 40 hours just it's more compact. But then I'm rambling.

I do a lot of rambling actually. You see my tiny, little death-trap of a car that gets great gas mileage has no radio so I talk to myself as I'm driving. I have pretty in depth conversations about several subjects with myself, often arguing the virtues and/or the downsides of each. I also have imaginary conversations where I am chastising some idiot from work or interviewing some fictional character as a doubly so (meaning not a real character in said character's story-line) fictional character. But then I'm rambling again.

And incidentally, Happy Easter....

Random

With a lack of anything else to post I'll just hit it in random overdrive.

April 12 will be my third year anniversary with Tyson. Does that mean anything special? Maybe. I get an extra week of vacation. I won't use the extra week except to take the cash and put a down on a new vehicle. While I have a gas sipping, tiny, little car I can carry over my shoulder should it run out of gas I need something more practical for the snow.... and something that can hit over 50 miles per hour without whining like a little bitch.

In the past few days I got three shots.
1.) Hepatitis B
2.) Hepatitis A
3.) Tetanus
These are in preventative measure. They aren't required but I work in a waste water facility. Better safe than sorry.
I go back in a month for a follow up shot for the hep b and 6 months for the hep a...

I still like toast

Oh yeah... my new job came with a 21 cent raise. I go to 3rd shift on Sunday. That tacks on another dollar for the differential. How can my life get better?

Not a whole lot on the garden front. Haven't done anything since I planted the onions and potatoes. Fucking snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still single... any takers? I mean, I'm house trained. I'll even put the lid back down. I can cook...

I got up way too early again. Good thing too. How else would I be able to get a post out to you, my seven fans?

Free porn is nifty. I'm trying to keep a budget.

I have taken age off my dating criteria (sort of). Now it is a requirement that (but not limited to) you have used a rotary dial phone and/or played an Atari 5600 or 2700 prior to 1989 and/or have watched Saturday Morning cartoons on a Saturday morning. The rotary dial phone is not optional.

I'll be right back. I need coffee.

Miss me? I know you did.

As soon as I get adjusted to the third shift hours I'll be able to get back to my Rosetta Stone Russian language software and other Russian learning things I own. I find it a rather sexy language for some twisted reason or another.

I heard one of my favorite techno songs the other day on YouTube... I used to listen to it back in the 90's after the band would finish at the club I worked at. It's called James Brown is Dead.
James Brown IS dead now. That makes me wonder what other songs I listened too are actually prophecies.

Currently listening to "I Put A Spell on You"; the Nina Simone version. It's the best.

Big boobs are kinda neat.

I'm done posting for now.

Eight Equals Eight

The thing I found most amazing about the company I work for upon the onset of my employment was the fact that we get paid on a weekly basis. For someone who has had so many every other week or twice a month jobs the concept, while welcomed was alien. Now we come to the title of my post....

My current hours (while in training) are Monday through Friday (for two weeks at any rate) from 7AM until 3PM. Do the math. That's eight hours. I get paid during my lunch. How freakin' cool is that? And when I go to third shift I'll be getting a dollar more an hour for the differential pay.

It's a pretty laid back job with a shit load of responsibility (yes the pun was intended) and I'll get paid for schooling when they send me.

I'm learning to take readings on various equipment and environmental settings. I don't know what a lot of it means yet but that will come in time. I'm all eco-friendly now.. hell I even get to play with chemicals in the lab... Muahahahahahhahahhahhahahahahhhahahhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Oh yeah. Yours Savagely get to get all mad scientisty!

Readjusting and Other Mindless Prattle

I woke up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early. Like three hours too early, but eh... I guess that's better than too late. I'm sure I'll get all readjusted to this new schedule just in time for me to take my spot on 3rd shift.

High-speed internet is lovely. I have't had high-speed since November 2008. This streaming thing is amazing. I can learn stuff with things like Khan Academy or MIT Open Courseware. Let's not forget free porn... Hellz Yeah!

I need to find a half-way decent digital camera so I can document my denim remakes. I don't just make flared bell bottoms anymore. I now can turn a couple of pairs of old jeans into a corset or a bad ass corsetty dress.

I think I'll play in the garden after work today. I have soil to turn and planning to do. I already got onions in the ground as well as potatoes.

I'm super-excited about work. I start the new job today. Yay!

That is all...

Friday, March 15, 2013

Uh

Okay so I am up at too damned early in the morning, typing up a blog entry to a fan base of six or seven people.

I'm pretty ecstatic about starting my new job on Monday. I'll be going to a 4 ten hour day workweek from a fluctuating 3 twelve hour and 1 six hour day work week. Oh my god I soooooo crave the stability.
I'll be able to do things on my time off instead of planning and then canceling the plans because I am too exhausted. I got third shift, which is my preferred shift. Sleep in the mornings, up in the afternoons; Sunday, Monday, Tuesday off. Hell! I won't know what to do with myself. I think I'll figure it out. It'll probably be math.

I remember arguing with my math teachers about math I'll never have to use in real life. Oh yeah... that came back to bite me in the ass. I get to learn all about volume and ratios again. If tank A holds a volume of X and chemical B is a volume of Y what is the amount of B I have to put into A to achieve 0.23 parts per million? Yeah... That kinda shit. Kinda makes me feel like river-dancing.

Oh yeah.. I'll be able to spend more time learning Russian. "Why Russian?" you ask. I've been fascinated by the Russian culture since we still used the term "Commie". That and have you seen Mila Kunis?  She might be Ukrainian but I am pretty sure she speaks Russian.

Okay Kiddies, I have to go scrounge around for some breakfast now....

Don't It Always Seem To Go

My coworker has been off for a few weeks now due to surgery. She is going to be off until the first week of April or so. And this is my last week in the parts room.
A lot of the maintenance people hope I don't like it where I'm going so that I'll come back and keep life easy for them. Some went as far as to tell me they would petition to get me a raise. It doesn't work like that in a corporate company as big as the one I work at. Besides, I need the change.
Waste-water operations isn't a glamorous job but it is a lucrative one and in major demand. The only career in the state of Missouri (nationwide for that matter) in higher demand is a nurse. I have the potential to make in the upwards of $25 and hour with my company (and that is inside of four years) and in the lower six digit range nationwide. If I am stupid enough to want to dodge bullets I can hire on at a company that sends its workers to places like Afghanistan and make around 1/4 to 1/2 a million a year. I don't do the whole possible kidnapping and beheading thing so that's out. All I know is in a few short years I'll be able to live comfortably.
My supervisor doesn't really want me to go because I've made myself indispensable but she's nice enough to hide it and likes to see her team members go onto better things. The maintenance guys on my shift don''t want me to go because I've made their lives easy and they'll have to go back to looking part numbers up and getting yelled at for not completing their jobs in a timely manner until my replacement gets trained. It's kind of nice being the person that every other person is going to be measured against in the parts room. Does my ego good.

Eh?

How in fuck's sweet name did I used to be able to post so much? I guess it's kind of like chat rooms of old.. There are only a few of us left blogging but I guess I'll trudge on posting as if blogging is still the shizzle yo'. With the lack of an idea to post I'll leave you with a previously posted poem... On of my better ones...

Art Studies

She carved out a bas-relief of claw marks down my back
Critics would be in awe of her talent I know I was I painted her ass a rosy red that complimented her complexion
Her make up was now a Picasso
Her body a Rembrandt
Funny that I met her in an art gallery
The room had become an example modern art
I think I’ll call it “Sex Mess”
 Or “Messy Room”
Or maybe “She Was Here and So Was I”
The bed became a canvas of debauchery of the highest order
Our bodies both subjects
We sculpted sex into new forms
Unheard of forms
Unheard of out side of porn shops Or my blog
Or your blogs for that matter
I dipped my brush in her paint pot
Repeatedly
I had to get the mixture just right I was working on a masterpiece
I was working on my opus
A visual symphony of fucking and screaming
And a whole bunch of, “Oh my gods!” The critics would say
I lifted her off the bed and put her up against that wall
Just under a copy of one of Pollock’s works
Oh, the coincidence!
I copied his style inside her

Well Shit

Let me see. I've been gone about a year now, ever since my last phone went and got all broken on me depriving my off the slightly faster than dial up but no where near DSL speeds. Yeah, yeah... I've had some sporadic posts letting you all know I was alive but it was no where near the love I could have and should have shown you all. Here's the updates. Since last I blogged I've: : gotten an entirely new (now almost a year old) laptop : went from nights to days at work : went from Monday through Friday to a jacked up, may as well be 12 hour shifts three days a week with a may as well be 6 hour day somewhere in the middle with every other weekend a four day weekend. : gotten accepted in a position in our waste water treatment facility (I figure if I'm going to deal with shit all the time it may as well be literal and I should get a license for it [after a year]) {I start on the 18th of this very merry month of March} : got high speed internet again (fin-the-fuck-ally) just today as a matter of fact : had a short string of really bad dates : got a tiny rice burner car : run out of things to talk about at this point
